Jerri opened Dance Elements in 2007 and is owner and artistic director. She has been dancing since the age of two and started teaching dance in 1998. Jerri trained and began her teaching career at Sandy Calamia’s Danceworks in Groves, Texas. She has been active in the competition and convention aspect of the dance world since the age of eight and continues her training annually by attending dance conventions. She graduated from McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in 2004 with an accounting degree.
Our faculty members have several years of training to pass along to the next generation of dancers. All faculty members are multi-faceted dancers in that they have performance and instructional backgrounds.
Acrobatics: This class teaches flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, and concentration. The focus will be on fundamental acrobatic technique. Students will learn handstands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, flexibility, and strength.
Tap/Ballet Combo: A combination class divided into half ballet and half tap focusing on ballet and tap fundamentals for toddlers. This combination class for preschool age children concentrates on the development of creative movement, coordination, and the teachings of basic ballet and tap techniques suitable for their age and ability level.
Jazz/Hip Hop Combo: A combination class divided into half jazz and half hip hop focusing on beginner movements for both dancestyles. This combination class concentrates on preparing the body for jazz technique and the basic concepts of hip hop such as musicality.
Ballet: A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement.
Tap: A style of dance using precise rhythmic patters and foot movement.
Jazz: A modern style of dance characterized by high power and energy; a form of personal expression created and sustained through improvisation
Note: We recommend all dancers enrolled in Jazz take Ballet as well to improve technique and build a solid dance background.
Contemporary: A style of theatrical dance that extends the limitations of classical ballet and favors movement deriving from the expression of inner feeling.
Hip Hop (ages 7 and up): Rhythmic movements using prearranged or improvised steps and gestures inspired by the popular culture.

The Spotlight Company is a competitive company for dancers in elementary or middle schoo that are dedicated to their dance training and want to expand their dance experience beyond the classroom. Spotlight Performance Company (SPC) will PERFORM in several community events throughout the year, COMPETE at dance competitions, and DANCE at conventions to broaden their dance training.
The Spotlight Performers is a non-competitive company for dancers in elementary or middle school that want to expand their dance performance beyond our annual recital. Spotlight Performers will PERFORM in several community events throughout the year. Dancers must complete the audition application and enroll in a summer session to be eligible for the company. Make sure to read the Information Packet for more information on financial and time commitments for this company.
The Spotlight Tap Company is a competitive company for tap dancers that want to take their tap to the next level. The tap company's purpose is to build a tap community at the studio as well as integrate into the local tap scene through additional performances and classes.
